An Enjoyable Three Weeks

We rented the Canalman's Cottage from Aug. 24 to Sept. 14. We enjoyed our stay very much despite a few issues which Robin & his people reacted & iced them quickly. The gardens are manny & not cared for so my wife did a fantastic job of weeding, taking away grub & planting. Fishing was not good unfortunately.. Henry

A perfect spring getaway

We spent 4 night at the charming historical cottage and were thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage was clean and with all the amenities as described and more. My boys went fishing everyday and caught lots of fish while the books and puzzles brought us hours of joy in the sunlit sitting room. Even my dog enjoyed the early morning walks around the cute little town.

Peaceful and close for daytrip

Very peaceful and close for daytrips. We had family members visit during the day and cooked many of our meals outdoors,

No complaints

Our stay at the Canalman's Cottage, Newboro Lockstation was very enjoyable. The accommodation was great and everything was in working order. The location of the cottage is very private and quiet so a very relaxing place to stay. The village itself was good for walking and we so enjoyed watching the boats going through the locks. A nice area to visit as there are many places to visit and not that far to drive.

Very relaxing

We had a great time at this cottage. Very quiet and even if not directly on the lake, close enough to get there easily with the double canoe included in the rental. We appreciated the nice living room, the confortable beds and the deck/garden. The access to the garage was a big plus since we brought our kayak with us. Close to Westport for grocery, bakery and restaurants. And we loved the Sheuermann's vineyard for great pizza and wine tasting. Nice house!

Wonderful cottage

I walked in when we arrived and then said to my wife, you're not going to believe this. The place was bright, clean and fully outfitted with furniture, dishes, cooking utensils, fans and more. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and how quiet it is. You are isolated by the trees but close to the water and have easy access not only to quaint Newboro but also Westport which is only a 10 minute drive away.

Perfect for quiet, relaxing vacation!

We spent a lovely and relaxing week at the Canalman's Cottage recently! The cottage was very clean and everything was as described. We had some lovely hikes at the nearby conservation area and in Frontenac Park. We also enjoyed swimming at the beach in Foley Mountain (Westport) and the Westport Sand Lake Beach. Robin was very helpful and quick to respond to our texts. The Park Canada staff were also friendly and helpful. They even came by during the week to introduce themselves and remind us that we could toss our garbage and recycling in the bins near the locks. On rainy days we enjoyed watching movies on Netflix which is available through the DVD player provided you have your own account (account is not provided with the cottage, as far as I know). Best part of our week was listening to the loons singing on the nearby lake late at night and early in the morning.

We had a very pleasurable week at the Canalman’s Cottage. It is located on a quiet laneway that leads to the lockstation and a five minute walk to the lake. The cottage is exactly as advertised, the photos are accurate, it was clean, nicely furnished, and everything was in good condition. The cottage had all the essential amenities, including good wifi, which made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We were at the cottage in September, a perfect time for hiking. There are many trails locally and we hiked every day. We were impressed with the cottage and would definitely recommend.Thanks to Robin at Rideau Lakes Cottages for facilitating an excellent vacation.

We stayed at the cottage for the Victoria long weekend. I guessed we were the first group who stayed there after the renovation. Everything is new and comfortable. The cottage is one minute away from the lake on where we did spend lots of time with a canoe provided by the cottage. There were 2 new canoes actually in the garage although we just opened one. The cottage itself is also worthy to stay. The beds were very comfortable. Hot water was sufficient enough for the group of us to take a shower. Two washrooms are not in big size but have all facilities. Robin was very friendly and always responded to our questions on line. The beddings were very pretty and comfortable. The inside decoration was very cute. Everything is perfect for us. The only thing that we didn’t find in the cottage was a guidance from the cottage which usually listed contact information and garbage dumping policy. However it was not a problem to us as we had information from Robin through emails. Everyone loves this cottage and we definitely will come back.
