Amazing Vacation Spot

We absolutely loved this house. It was amazing. We loved that we could have our dog with us in the yard. The deck was amazing as we ate lunch out there a few times. It was very relaxing just what we needed. We found a few great fishing spots as well. We hope to return again next year.

Relaxing and Scenic Cottage - Clean and Well Equipped

Our cottage stay was wonderful. The space was clean, and extremely well equipped with pillows, blankets, good quality kitchen items, and lots of thoughtful touches. I packed a lot of extra things "just in case" that I did not need. The bunk house was perfect for the one night we had an extra guest, and also very well appointed. The outdoor space and water view are fantastic. We used the large deck, BBQ, fire pit, and the screened in porch a lot. And reliable high speed internet made working remotely easy. The location is great, not far to Westport for a walk around and shopping. Also recommend going to Recess Cafe, a very short drive away. The coffee and food were great, if you're looking for an outing. Thank you for a fantastic stay! Would love to come back.

Fishing Trip

Great time at Rideau Pines. Group of 8 (3 boats) on fishing trip. Pros - docking, proximity to public launch, parking, big property, bunkie, great room/kitchen space, deck, sun room. Cons - 1 modest washroom, no AC, not great for dock swimming. Thanks Robin - we hope to be back!

Lovely stay

Really nice cottage. Nice property, lovely view out over southern Big Rideau. Great location- walk into Portland, easy drive to Westport, Smith's Falls. Lake great for kayaking (2 provided), easy walk to dock, kayak launching. Sept, cold nights, heaters greatly appreciated (wood fir available, though didn't need to use it. Lovely great room- 2 families, yet still enough room. Bunkie really nice- allowed younger members some privacy Why not 5*? 1. Only 1 bath (as noted in advert) though there is the outhouse in case of emergencies. Did require a schedule (2 families) 2. Lovely, but somewhat shallow bay. Water lilies, really nice for kayaking . canoes, not so much for swimming. Found meant taking paddleboards (supplied) out into deeper water for unencumbered swimming At same time, 5* would also have 5* costs, whereas as this was more than reasonable Otherwise a really nice

Great place for the whole Family

This cottage is a perfect place for the whole family. It is such a cozy and welcoming place. The kitchen is fully stocked. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the views. The kids enjoyed fishing from the dock and using the Kayaks and SUPs. The deck and screened in porch were great places to eat our meals and play games. Thanks for helping to make it a perfect week.

Perfect spot!

Beautiful base to explore the lake! The cottage was charming and clean with everything we needed for a relaxing week away! Plus kids really enjoyed having their own space in the bunkie!

Mrs.

After 1.5 years in COVID isolation and stay at home orders - this stay was exactly what our family needed. The cottage was clean, bright and well appointed. The property was larger than expected and expertly maintained. The dogs loved having room to roam and even enjoyed the daily visits from the Geese. Lots of room to safely dock our pontoon and the free boat launch 5 min away was a pleasant bonus. We will definitely consider booking again with this owner. Thanks!

Ms.

Rideau Pines was an awesome spot to spend Thanksgiving weekend. We woke up to the beautiful fall colours with the sun reflecting off the water. It was still warm enough for the kids to enjoy kayaking and paddle boating around Big Rideau. Having the firepit allowed us to host extended family outside and still stay warm. The woodstove kept us cozy and warm all day. The kitchen had all the amenities needed to cook Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings. Hope to come back again.

Outstanding hospitality!

Great views, great cottage and value - recommendation is to rent the pontoon boat if you are staying for a week. Owners are great people.
