A Special Place

This was our sixth visit to the Lockmaster’s House and we had a terrific time again. This year the fall colours were amazing. The cottage has all the amenities to make our stay comfortable, including wifi and air conditioning. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated, and all the linens /towels were provided. We were very impressed and would definitely recommend. Thanks to Robin at Rideau Lakes Cottages for facilitating an excellent vacation.

This will be our 3rd year at Davis Lock. The cottage is amazing, the ambiance and the setting second to none. We discovered the cottage while on a House Boat trip and now keep coming back. Communication from Robin is terrific. When we had a water alarm go off, someone was there within an hour to set things straight. PS the Cleaner does a wonderful job preparing the cottage. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place

This was our first time renting the Lockmaster House. We had docked at the lock some 40 years ago and love this area of the Rideau. The House is just perfect, comfortable and inviting, a great place to relax. Robin was very helpful and kept our names on file for two years, well worth the wait and planning. Thank you, we will see you again.

A very special place.

Once again, our stay at the Lockmasters House has been a delight. It was our fifth time renting this historic house. The cottage is very comfortable, charming decor, and has all the amenities. We love it here. The local people are very friendly, from the lock staff, the visitors, and the boaters travelling through the canal system. We enjoyed the paddling and hiking in the area. It has been a relaxing holiday.

We were impressed again!

The Lockmaster’s House at Davis Lock has become a very special place for us. It was our fourth time renting the historic cottage and has become a home away from home for us. The cottage is decorated with a historic theme with many photos, maps, and documents of the canal’s early days. The cottage was very clean, and as advertised, contains all the essential amenities, including good wifi. We particularly enjoy the the hiking and paddling in the area. We were again impressed with our stay and would definitely recommend. A special thanks to Robin at Rideau Lakes Cottages, he has a very efficient process for facilitating an excellent vacation.

Best Vacation Ever

We just completed our fourth annual two week stay at the Lockmaster’s House at Davis Lock. The cottage was completely renovated in 2015/16 to the highest standards. The setting in very tranquil and gives one an opportunity to completely relax and chill out.

Total relaxation

Our stay at the Davis Lockmaster's cottage was one of peace and relaxation. You get a real feel for the history in the beautifully renovated and furnished house. We spent a lot of our time on the deck overlooking the canal while watching boats navigate the locks, truly wonderful. It is so great that this historic building is available for the public to enjoy and we plan on returning one day. A true gem!

A Unique Place to Relax

The Lockmaster's House rental at the Davis Canal was a unique experience. The house itself is like a museum, with it's historic character and many old wall pictures, etc. The kitchen and bathroom is modern in decor and fully functional, along with it's comfortable bedrooms. Waking-up and having a coffee at various spots around the house and canal was my highlight. The trails on the south-side of the canal were a bonus with it's dappled light within the forest. A great place to consider for that after-dinner walk. As the most isolated canal within the Rideau Lock-System, it was busy enough to observe cruisers, canoes, and kayakers that travel through the canal. The views were excellent at so many locations. The booking process and arrival was very easy and thanks to Robin and his staff for this. I highly recommend this little piece of paradise, with it's load of history and natural beauty.

Another Terrific Week!
